P1 has the puck but notices pressure and passes it along the boards to P2.
P2 then takes the heat of the D freeing up P1s space.
P1 hightails it to the slot getting open for the pass.
It is crucial that s/he gets there before the D takes away the passing lane.
P1 receives the pass (D man's now thinking "oh no") and is free to shoot.
P1 may also have the option of passing it to P3 for a quick cross-crease pass.
